Faith Formation

Bible Studies

St. Peter Parish offers a number of Bible Studies that are open to all interested parishioners. These studies include a weekly lectionary-based study that delves into readings for the coming Sunday’s Mass and meets on Tuesdays from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the Fr. Bauer Prayer room, and topical Bible Studies that look at specific books of the Bible and meet at various times during the week. Among regular topical Bible Study groups are a Tuesday morning group that meets from 8:45-10:45 and offers childcare; and a Sensational Catholic Seniors’ Study that meets on the first and third Thursday mornings each month from 8:30-10:30. Additional Bible Studies also are available

Catholic Identity Team

Led by the Pastoral Council, the Catholic Identity Team develops initiatives to help parishioners better understand and become more engaged in the Catholic Faith.

Liturgy of the Word for Children

Leaders and assistants plan and deliver Liturgy of the Word for children in kindergarten through the fourth grade during the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass. The parish is seeking to also offer this ministry during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass, and additional volunteers are needed. Training for this ministry is provided by the parish.

Qualifications: Adult volunteers are required to complete Protecting God’s Children and a background check.

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is the process by which non-Catholic individuals become fully initiated members of the Catholic Church, receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. RCIA begins in September and continues to Pentecost (50 days after Easter). Volunteer opportunities include team leaders, who plan and lead weekly RCIA classes, and sponsors, who help catechumens (those who have never been baptized) and candidates (those who have been baptized but are converting to Catholicism) through the RCIA process. RCIA meets on Tuesday nights from 7-8:30 p.m.

Sunday School and Childcare

Leaders and assistants provide a Sunday School lesson for preschool age children during the 9:30 a.m. mass. Childcare is available for those too young to participate. We offer services for children ages 1-5 years old. Volunteers are always needed to either work in the childcare or teach Sunday School lessons. You do not have to have a child in the program to participate.

Qualifications:  Adult volunteers are required to complete Protecting God’s Children and a background check.

Stewardship Team

Led by the Pastoral Council, the St. Peter Stewardship Team spearheads a parish-wide initiative to help parishioners develop stewardship as a way of life. Through this continual process of renewal, parishioners develop an “attitude of gratitude,” returning a portion of their time, talents and treasure to God and our community.

Totus Tuus

Totus Tuus is a dynamic and truly Catholic summer vacation program for grade and high school students. Day-camp for kids in grades one through six; Junior and Senior High Faith Experience for kids in grades seven through 12.

Why Catholic?

This adult faith formation program is based on Sacred Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and is designed to deepen the faith and spirituality of Catholics as well as to connect the teachings of the Church to everyday life.  Two six-week sessions are offered each year – one beginning in October, and the other during Lent. Facilitators are always needed for new groups.
