Chorale (Parish Choir)

St. Peter’s Chorale is an ideal activity for people who want to share their gift of music and enjoy the camaraderie of other musicians from our faith community. Chorale is open to any adult or high school vocalist. The group rehearses in the Music Room in the lower level of the church from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. each Wednesday from September through May.  Chorale provides music for three to four Masses each month from September through May and also at special liturgies.

Jubilation (Parish Children’s Choir)

Jubilation is for children in grades 4 through 8, whether they attend St. Peter’s School, another school, or are home-schooled. Jubilation rehearses from 3:00 to 3:45 p.m. every Wednesday from September through May in the Music Room (lower level of the Church).  The group normally sings for Mass once a month from September through May and at the Family Christmas Eve Mass.  New members are welcome at the start of each semester.

Keyboardists

Pianists and organists accompany cantors during some liturgies and may provide solo background music at specified times during a Mass. Although the Parish Music Director specifies hymns and acclamation settings for each liturgy, the keyboardist is responsible for selecting appropriate solo instrumental music. Keyboardists may specify their availability each month: from occasional assistance to weekly liturgies.

Qualifications: Well-developed keyboard skills, nerves of steel, and the ability to play in front of large congregations are essential. New keyboardists receive an orientation before serving.

Resurrection Choir

Singers are welcome to join our Resurrection Choir, which provides music for funerals upon request.

To Request the Choir for a Funeral:  Please contact Monica Scholz (Tel: 224-8014; E-mail cgscholz@adams.net.)

Cantors

Talented vocalists with a strong sense of liturgy and interest in leading the congregation in song are welcome.  Cantors also proclaim the Psalm from the ambo during Mass.  These leaders participate in occasional special rehearsals to learn new music and deepen their understanding of the liturgy.

Qualifications: Well-developed vocal skills, an understanding of the liturgy, nerves of steel and the ability to sing in front of large congregations are essential.  New cantors receive in-depth training before serving as a music leader during a liturgy.

Praise Band

The Parish Praise Band provides music for the noon Praise Mass each Sunday. This group welcomes singers and instrumentalists. The Praise Band’s goal is to create a more relaxed praise and worship experience by offering contemporary music, similar to what can be heard on WGCA.  The group meets on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. in the church to choose music and rehearse.

To Volunteer: Please contact Steve Buckman via E-mail at bucktunes@yahoo.com.

St. Peter’s Singers

St. Peter’s Singers welcomes any musician – singers and guitarists, pianists and other instrumentalists – who would like to volunteer as a “congregational leader of song” for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass and for other liturgies. The group has occasional practices and is ideal for musicians who have uncertain schedules but want to participate as time permits.

To Volunteer: Please contact Jan Faler (Tel: 223-7823; E-mail: jefaler@yahoo.com, or talk with any of the group members after 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday.)
